Anxiety isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
For 19 years I’ve been channeling mine into professional creativity.
Both advertising and literary art work for me as therapy sessions paid by brands and publishers. Great, isn’t it?
When it comes to accomplishments in the literary art world, I’ve written a book called ‘100 Things to do After You Die’; had my poetry published in several collections; written and starred in the performance art Saravá Palavrá (which will become an album & a book in 2021); already won the silver trophy in the Poetry Slam National Cup.
Talking about advertising, I started 19 years ago in Brazil as a Copywriter and for the past 6 years have been responsible for the Creative Direction of FCB Lisbon.
Along my career, I’ve already channeled my anxiety into creating campaigns that were huge hits with consumers, clients and awards juries. I was happy to be awarded at Cannes Lions (including 2 trophies in the Copywriting Craft Category), One Show, CLIO, EPICA, New York Festival, London International Festival, Eurobest, El Ojo, CRESTA, ETC and ETC.
But, I have to tell you, nothing makes me prouder than my two kids: Bernardo and Maria.
MAIN AWARDS
Impossible Journey
The U.S. maternal mortality rate is exceptionally high for Black women – they are 3X more likely to die from pregnancy-related issues than their White counterparts.
Impossible Journey is an animated short that tells the true story of Black mothers in America through the lens of a stork. Throughout the delivery, the stork endures a gauntlet of dangers, representing the health risks expecting Black mothers face. This is contrasted with the easy and uneventful journey of another stork, representing the experience of white moms.
Each scene is hand painted, and the film culminates with a live-action reading of an original poem by Bruce McIntyre, a dad who lost his partner, Amber Rose Isaac, during the delivery of their son in 2020. 700 of the 3,200 hand-painted frames were sent as direct mail postcards to members of Congress, state legislators, activists, and influencers during Black Maternal Week, inviting all to watch the film and support the passing of the Black Maternal Health Momnibus Act.
